THE NGA
The Northern Golf Association (NGA) is a non-profit organization representing golf courses and players across Northern Ontario. Our member clubs cover a vast region — stretching from Katrine on Highway 11 and Parry Sound on Highway 69, west along Highway 17 to Sault Ste. Marie, north to Wawa, east to Mattawa, and further north on Highway 11 to Hearst. The NGA operates within the territorial districts of Algoma, Cochrane, Parry Sound, Nipissing, Sudbury, and Timiskaming, collectively spanning roughly 269,802 square kilometers. The association has proudly served the Northern Ontario golf community since 1926.
Our mission is to grow the game in Northern Ontario by supporting our member clubs and players, coordinating tournament schedules and resources, advancing women’s and junior golf, and delivering competitive opportunities for men, women, and juniors. In partnership with Golf Ontario and Golf Canada, we work to uphold the integrity, development, and long-term success of the sport across the region.
The Northern Ontario Amateur Championship has been a respected tradition since 1926, held every year except for three during World War II and one during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2026 Amateur will be hosted at Timberwolf Golf Club.
NGA 100
The Northern Golf Association is proud to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026. For over a century, we have supported Northern Ontario’s golf courses and players.
In celebration of this milestone, we will be hosting a centennial event at Idylwylde Golf & Country Club in September 2026. The event will include a celebration of our history, updates from association leaders, food and drinks, and a Hall of Fame celebration.
We are actively seeking financial support to help elevate this event. If you are interested in supporting the celebration or attending, please email rbridge@golfontario.ca.
More information will be shared in the coming weeks!

2026 Northern Amateur
The 2026 Northern Ontario (NGA) Amateur and Golf Ontario Qualifiers will take place at Timberwolf Golf Club on June 6th and 7th. The event will feature four divisions and bring together top players from across the region.
The 7,100-yard course will provide a challenging test and has previously hosted both the Canadian Junior Boys Championship and the Ontario Junior Boys Championship. This will mark the Wolf’s second time hosting the Northern Amateur.
